Coconut Brownies

1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 c Sifted flour
1 3/4 c (firmly packed) light brown sugar
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Coconut flavoring
2 Eggs
1 c Shredded coconut
1 c Pecans; chopped

Combine butter, flour and 1/4 cup sugar; turn into greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Mix remaining sugar and baking powder with coconut flavoring and eggs; add coconut and pecans. Spread evenly over top of first mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut brownies while warm; cool and remove from pan. Yield: 2 dozen brownies.
